Swine flu or just legs dropping off?

I woke up on Thursday to have pins and needles in my feet. AND IT STAYED LIKE THAT ALL DAY! I did wonder whether I could force myself to go to a pub quiz on the revamp of Housesteads fort but I did in the end. It was very good fun. Even though I gave the academic answer to the questions e.g. "How long did it take to build Hadrian's Wall?" They wanted bullet point answers: "6 years"...I gave "6-8 years"...and so on...

It was still the same the next day so I went to the doctor's: "Come back in 3 weeks." Quote unquote. I forgot to mention that I was supposed to be training for the GREAT NORTH RUN. I have been except for the last 6 weeks when I concentrated more on my studying. (I'm not very good at multi-tasking!) So the training is still very much on hold sadly. In the mean time the pins and needles feeling has spread to my waist line and I feel as if I'm 105. It's very odd...very cold feeling in the toes and I can feel the skin on the outside of my legs but not the inside.

I've googled all the symptoms and it's either Swine flu or Jean-Michel-Jarre's syndrome (I jest...could be Guillem Barre's syndrome or whatever it is..the guy who wrote "Butterfly in the diving bell" thingummy jiggy with his left eyelash). I shouldn't joke...it was a tremendous achievement. What I am trying to say...is that I'm the world's worst patient and a hypochrondriac to boot (well...almost). Am I as good looking as Javier Bardem I ask myself?

I just want to get it sorted and not have this awful feeling. So it's back to the doctor's for me I think. Could be the thyroid though.

Any thoughts/answers - please on the back of a postcard.

At least I'm now down to 11 stone these days so that's something I suppose...(It can't be Swine Flu can it?)

Went for a run yesterday

I DID go for a 15 minute run yesterday in the blazing sunshine very amazingly. My bones ache today and the scales tipped in at 11 stone 3 lbs but am pleased that I got my run in.

I still feel that my schedule is a bit behind but am trying to do my best with it all. I'm eating well and not eating any junk: porridge for breakfast, ham sandwich for lunch, casserole and rice for evening meal. I've just got to carry on being virtuous.

I am motivated, at the moment, to lose weight and (when I can) to go running. I just hope this mood continues for a while. At least until 20th September!

15 minutes without stopping!

Did my first 15 minute run yesterday...down Haltwhistle Burn and back up again. I didn't stop. Not once. Not even for a cream bun. I'm trying to follow the running schedule that I've downloaded from The Great North Run website. I have missed the odd day or two but if I can get the right child care hopefully it shouldn't be too often. Gotta to go...to make lunch.

I've even managed to lose 2 lbs into the bargain. Ain't life amazin'?

Two runs so far

I've done two runs so far. The first (on Tuesday) was for fifteen minutes...around a field and three times round my parents' hamlet (where they live...in one single house. They don't own the hamlet!)..I got back and saw that I'd misread the schedule. It said: 5-10 minutes easy run. Botheration! Oh well. At least I'd done something.

Today went out running with my youngest sister. She set the pace. I think she was being easy with me. Only had to be a 5-10 easy minute run again. I liked the downhill bit the best.;)

I get e-mail updates from the running schedule. No peace for the wicked.

It all starts here

Given up on diet. Waste of time although I should start trying to avoid some things. I've got my training schedule today. Luckily first day, today, it says REST. Can't argue with that!
